Berry Simons welcomes the extension of the date for the Local Government and Environment Select Committee to report back on the highly controversial Resource Legislation Amendment Bill 2015.
The date has been extended for the second time and is now due on 7 November 2016.
Berry Simons supports this delay on the basis that it will increase the time to address significant issues raised in Simon Berry and Helen Andrews’ paper The Final Straw for the RMA? Some Shortcomings of the Resource Legislation Amendment Bill 2015.
Concerns raised by Simon Berry, Andrew Braggins and Helen Andrews were recently highlighted in an article in the National Business Review (12 August) entitled “Objections to resource consents curtailed under new legislation”.
A condensed version of the paper will appear in the next edition of the RMLA’s Resource Management Journal.
Berry Simons strongly believes it is critical that the issues raised by the Bill are fully and rigorously debated. We welcome you to share your views and concerns regarding the Bill via our LinkedIn page and to contact Simon or Helen if you wish to discuss the issues further.
