Rebekah joined the Berry Simons team as a graduate in July 2021; she will be admitted as a solicitor in December this year.
Rebekah graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a conjoint Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Environmental Studies. Before joining Berry Simons, Rebekah worked in both the Resource Management and Climate directorates of the Ministry for the Environment, where she gained valuable insights into the pending Resource Management Reform and other important policy issues.
Growing up on dairy farms in Taranaki and Canterbury, Rebekah could see the tensions between primary production and protecting the environment from an early age. She is excited to be entering Environmental Law in this transformative legal and policy context.
“I think one of the strengths of Berry Simons is its ability to be ahead of the game in the context of a fast-changing legal landscape. Having the experience and foresight to lead the pack is invaluable to clients.”
Rebekah is passionate about honouring Te Tiriti and learns Te Reo Māori and New Zealand Sign Language in her spare time. She also enjoys spending time in te taiao and exploring the various tramps around New Zealand.
