About Us

A boutique Environmental Law firm with a rich portfolio of diverse clients and leading-edge projects.

The partners and senior associates of Berry Simons are highly experienced in Resource Management and Environmental Law. Seldom do we encounter issues we haven’t faced before, especially when it comes to the consenting of greenfield and brownfield developments, infrastructure and energy projects.

We’ve built a reputation for our high success rate on RMA issues and the meticulous management of client matters. Given that very few issues have a purely legal, technical or commercial solution, we work very closely with our clients and key advisors to identify strategic innovative solutions to complex problems. Our approach is to achieve our client’s goal outside the council hearing or courtroom, as well as succeed on their behalf, as a result of meticulous preparation, if litigation is necessary.

Our experience

Drawing on our wide-ranging experience, we take on a variety of projects and ensure we’ve always got the best person for the job. Our partners, Simon Berry, Sue Simons and Kate Storer, bring with them decades of experience in Environmental and Resource Management Law, as well as backgrounds in senior governance roles in major industry bodies, such as the Resource Management Law Association and the Property Council of New Zealand.

Together, they guide a team of red-hot talent, from highly experienced senior associates to new admitted solicitors. Our motivated up and coming lawyers are the engine room of legal efficiency here at Berry Simons, and the next generation of Environmental lawyers.

Our boutique approach

Our approach applies the expertise of the firm’s partners, lawyers and talented support staff in a dynamic environment. The boutique focus of the firm and its operating principles ensure that we’re always on hand for clients and fully involved in the work undertaken.
